ACADEMY CLOSE: Architecturally designed Defence member homes, combining contemporary design & sustainability

PROJECT

Academy Close, a new residential estate in Campbell ACT, purpose-built to house Australian Defence Force members and their families. This re-development project delivers a revitalised community for Defence members to live and socialise. The architecturally-designed houses will combine contemporary design and sustainability features, to balance functionality and comfortable living.
Delivered for Defence Housing Australia (DHA), the development includes 30 new homes designed with energy efficiency and sustainability at their core. The estate features a mix of 26 two-storey and 4 single-storey dwellings, with seven different house types, including a dedicated commandant’s residence.
The proposed architectural character and materials palette is calm and reiterates the surrounding landscape setting. While referencing the broader Defence precincts of ADFA and Duntroon, the new development is designed to sit comfortably in its Campbell context.
We proudly supplied electrical appliances, plumbing PC items, Hot Water, Solar and Air Conditioning – using the most of our specialist divisions! HNC are extremely proud to have delivered this important development.
