Striking design and architectural beauty, the Gugan Gulwan Youth Aboriginal Corporation Building holds significant value for the Canberra community. The construction of this new purpose-built facility will provide expanded services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and families in a familiar setting.
Gugan Gulwan boasts unique finishes and art installations throughout, with dedicated spaces for offices, functions, and art and music recording facilities. It will provide invaluable support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth (ages 12-25) and their families. Their programs are centred around well-being, personal development, and support, including:
• Drug & Alcohol/Mental Health Program – Addressing substance use and mental health challenges.
• Child, Youth & Family Support – Strengthening family dynamics and support systems.
• Reconnect Program – Assisting youth in reconnecting with their families and communities.
In addition, they offer group programs and outreach services to build life skills and amplify youth voices. One of their standout initiatives is the Music Program, which engages and empowers Canberra Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth. This program allows participants to develop their musical talents, express themselves creatively, and connect with their cultural heritage in a supportive and culturally appropriate environment.
