Recently David Cramond and Plumbing Category Manager Samantha Murray attended the ISH Trade Fair 2025, held in Frankfurt, Germany bringing back valuable insights and experiences. The fair showcased the latest advancements in HVAC, water, and energy solutions. This year’s event, running from March 17-21, highlighted innovations in washlet technology, colour trends, and sustainability efforts, drawing over 163,000 visitors from 154 countries.
Washlet technology, pioneered by TOTO, continues to revolutionise bathroom experiences worldwide. The latest models, such as the WASHLET S2 and S5, feature advanced functionalities like EWATER+ for sustainable cleaning, sensor-controlled heated seats, and AIR-IN WONDER-WAVE technology for efficient water use. These innovations not only enhance hygiene and comfort but also significantly reduce toilet paper usage by approximately 75%, aligning with global sustainability goals. All major ceramic brands in attendance also showcased their offering in this segment, which is exciting to see with the category growing at high speed in the market.
Colour plays a crucial role in modern bathroom design, and ISH 2025 did not disappoint. TOTO introduced a range of vibrant vessel basins in bold hues like Forest Green, Mandarin Orange, Scarlet Red, and Ash Blue. These colours, inspired by nature, allow for creative self-expression and personalisation in bathroom spaces. Additionally, the Kiwami® Matte Vessel basins in Matte White, Beige, Gray, and Black offer a sophisticated, spa-like ambiance, blending seamlessly with contemporary design aesthetics. They also showcased the matte white and matte black in the washlet toilets which we are already seeing as current trends in the Australia market and will benefit being able to extend this into the washlet category.
Duravit also made a splash with its colour offerings. The brand’s new Balcoon collection by Patricia Urquiola features a palette of soft, earthy tones that bring a sense of calm and elegance to bathroom spaces. These colours, including muted greens, warm terracottas, and serene blues, are designed to create a harmonious and inviting atmosphere, perfect for modern homes.
Boiling, chilled, and sparkling filter taps were a highlight at ISH 2025. These taps provide instant access to filtered boiling, chilled, and sparkling water, transforming kitchen functionality. These systems are designed to replace traditional kettles and water jugs, offering a sleek, space-saving solution that enhances both convenience and sustainability. With advanced filtration technology, these taps ensure pure, great-tasting water while reducing the need for bottled water. Many of the major tapware brands had an offering being showcased in this category, it will be interesting to see who make it into the Australian market over the coming years.
Hansgrohe, along with its AXOR brand, presented a range of innovative products designed to enhance water experiences while promoting sustainability. Highlights included new shower systems and taps that conserve water and energy without compromising on performance. The AXOR ShowerSphere, developed in collaboration with Antonio Citterio, showcased luxurious design and functionality, making it a stand-out at the fair.
Villeroy & Boch, exhibiting alongside Ideal Standard, focused on creating bathrooms that blend elegance with functionality. Their new Skyla collection, featuring organic shapes and clear lines, was a major attraction.
